Constructed with UV-stabilized materials and reinforced stitching, it enhances visibility and brings a modern touch to any training environment.
Why FORTRESS Club Spec Cricket Matting With Built-In Surround & Stump Lines?
Distinctive Surround Feature
The bold Blue 0.63m (2ft) wide surround on both sides of our cricket matting serves a practical purpose by clearly highlighting the traditional wicket area from the broader pitch, making it particularly useful for both fixed and mobile netting setups. These clear outlines help players make accurate decisions about ball and player placement. The unique contrasting design of the club-spec tufted carpet enhances safety, functionality, and the overall aesthetic of the practice space, creating a more professional appearance.
High-Visibility Stump Lines
This Club Spec Green Matting with Blue Surround also includes three bold White wicket lines, providing an excellent training aid for both batters and bowlers. These lines precisely represent the positions of cricket stumps and are seamlessly integrated into the matting during manufacturing, ensuring they are as durable as the matting itself. This design ensures natural movement and bounce off the mat, even when the ball contacts the wicket lines.
Superior Ball Spin & Consistent Bounce
Engineered to simulate the feel of natural grass wickets, this 10mm-thick tufted carpet, paired with our 6mm shock padding underlay, ensures consistent ball bounce. The club-standard matting, with a high yarn density of 75,600 stitches per square metre, enhances ball grip, making it perfect for spin bowling practice.
All-Weather Durability
Made from UV-stable ultra-high-density polyethylene (HDPE) yarn, this cricket mat is built to withstand the elements. Its rot-resistant nature makes it suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The cross-linked net-cloth backing, bonded with SBR, ensures long-lasting durability even under heavy usage.
5-Year Warranty & Expected 10-Year Lifespan
The FORTRESS Club Spec Cricket Matting comes with a 5-year warranty and is designed to last, with an expected lifespan of 7-10 years, given proper installation, maintenance, and use.
Reliable Performance
Our cricket mats are built to maintain their quality and performance over time. Unlike other artificial carpets that lose ball grip and bounce due to flattened or one-directional grass blades, our multi-directional pre-curled yarn prevents flattening, ensuring optimal bounce and spin for years to come.
Optional Shockpad/Underlay Upgrade
Enhance your cricket training setup with the 6mm FORTRESS shockpad underlay beneath the mat. This optional underlay absorbs foot traffic and ball impacts, extending the matting’s longevity and providing a safer, more comfortable playing surface. It also significantly improves ball bounce, closely replicating the natural feel of a turf wicket for an enhanced training experience.

Installation Recommendations
For optimal performance, consider these two subbase options for FORTRESS Cricket Matting with Built-In Surround:
Aggregate/Dynamic Base:
Following ECB recommendations, this subbase offers superior ball bounce and water drainage compared to concrete. Construct a 50mm bottom layer with limestone or granite (MOT Type 1), add a 100gsm or higher weed control fabric in the middle, and top with 6mm granite dust or sand. We recommend using a timber frame edge border to accommodate these materials, especially for installations with multiple practice lanes. Securely fasten the FORTRESS Shockpad Underlay and cricket pitch matting using nails or screws for a stable setup.
Concrete/Tarmac Base
This affordable and durable base is simple to set up using recycled materials. While it may result in higher ball bounce for expert players, it’s suitable for schools and home setups. Fill a 25-50mm bottom layer with sand or crushed stone, add a 100gsm weed control fabric, and top with 50-100mm of concrete or tarmac. Tarmac offers better drainage and a softer ball bounce. Use a timber frame edge border for this subbase type as well. Secure the shockpad underlay and cricket carpet with nails, screws, or matting glue for added stability.
Maintenance Advice
Regular maintenance involves cleaning with water, a firm brush, and specialized moss cleaning agents to prolong the carpet's lifespan and maintain consistent ball performance over time.
