The partnership between Durham CCC and Net World Sports first began when their head groundsman, Vic, expressed his interest in learning more and helping develop our new and innovative 360° Concertina Cricket Cage. Vic explains that traditionally players don't like using cages to practice batting, as they feel enclosed and are concerned about the rebound of the ball, with safety at all times being the main determent.
We visited the club at the Emirates Riverside ground in Chester-le-Street to install the cage and meet the team. The groundsmen and coaches were impressed with the ease of assembling, moving and adjusting the cage, making it the perfect addition to bring on and off the ground. The players were equally as pleased with the cage and after using they were surprised to find there was no bounce back from the ball when hitting the netting or framework, and the cage has now been incorporated into both the professional and academy squads for training and pre match practice on game days.
Beyond the cage, Net World Sports also supplied Durham CCC with other FORTRESS cricket training equipment, such as sight screens, clubs & match balls, stumps & bases and rebounders.
"The equipment has been excellent, and the playing squad and staff have very much enjoyed using the equipment - the standard is fantastic and of high quality"
It's great to see our FORTRESS cricket product range being used by a club of Durham CCC stature, including England internationals such as Ben Stokes. The feedback we've received has been invaluable and we look forward to working closely with Vic and the team in the future to enhance our product development and offering.
